Roof Air Raising Procedure at Zeebrugge Terminal

SMM performed yesterday the Roof Air Raising (RAR) operation of the 4th LNG tank under construction at Zeebrugge terminal.

This tank roof, with more than 1300 tons, made this operation being considered one of the most challenging RAR performed ever. It was only possible due to a long preparation period carried out by a competent and dedicated SMM team.

This air raising procedure was exclusively performed by SMM, including design and operation coordination. State of the art technology in the field of variable speed drives was used to control the raising of the roof through the speed control of the air inlet fans, and to avoid power outages during the operation, a full automatic redundant power supply system was installed.
